The books describe the history of each location as well as its crowd capacity and quirky features. Readers will be amazed that some places, like TD Garden in Boston, are multipurpose, serving as the home field to several different teams. In addition to outlining the history of each stadium, arena, fieldhouse, or field, many chapters include suggestions for other tourist attractions in the area and possible modes of transportation. With maps that show the suggested route, these books are fun for armchair travel and real road trips. VERDICT This series should cruise off your shelves.

The four- or six-page sections provide basic place facts (including name, location, date opened, capacity), overviews of the teams' or participants' histories, and captioned photos.
